It’s time to face facts. It’s autumn – and the weather isn’t getting any better (cry). But, to welcome you into the cooler, cosier season, we’ve got the perfect perfumes to keep you on-trend (yay). And we spoke to expert, Michael Edwards, about which fragrance formulas to look out for this season…
Warm, woody fragrances
Just like a hot chocolate (with marshmallows on top, obvs) makes us feel all fuzzy inside, so too will woody scents this autumn. And we’re not complaining. Woody scents are ones with woody notes (you guessed it!) like sandalwood, cedarwood and oak – and they’re set to be big news. “Naturally, we tend to lean towards warmer scents when the weather cools down,” says Michael. “So, expect to see woody notes with spices, amber and even gourmand ingredients.” Our fave woody fragrances at the moment have got to be Zadig & Voltaire This is Her! (a blend of sandalwood, rose and vanilla) and Cartier L’Envol De Cartier for him (an addictive combo of guaiac – a type of wood – and honey). Try them now or miss out FOREVER.
Classic floral fragrances
It’s hard to think of florals ever going out of fashion. And that’s why they’ll be big (again) for autumn. But nothing sets our hearts aflutter like rose, jasmine and iris, which, according to Michael, will be trending in a major way. “These classic floral notes appear to be trending alone and as part of complex bouquets,” says Michael. And here at The Perfume Shop, we’re floral fans by nature, so we suggest trying Chloé Fleur de Parfum for her, a beaut combo of rose and cherry blossom or Prada L’Homme Prada for him, for all you iris addicts.
