Perfume review: YSL Black Opium Floral Shock

By Lauren Carbran

As if YSL couldn’t make us any happier – they’ve just launched the hottest scent on the block, Black Opium Floral Shock. Yes! If you love the rush of an espresso but also have a floral fetish, this one’s for you. And we got our Editor and #TEAMTPS star, Sonia Zabair, to test it out…

‘Black Opium Floral Shock is a dazzling new addition to the Black Opium family. But instead of the intense, warm smell, it brings a new spring like vibe. I love the delicate notes of gardenia and orange blossom that merge with a classic coffee accord – it electrifies the senses immediately. What more could you want? So I’d seriously suggest starting off the year with this. When I wear Floral Shock it makes me feel sensual and confident – there’s a boldness to it that gives you that feel-good feeling. I would definitely love to wear this scent on a hot summers evening or on a fun night out with my girls. This is one scent you wear to shock and impress!’

‘Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE the Black Opium range. But I’ve always craved a sweet, feminine smell to balance out the coffee accords. So really, Floral Shock is my dream come true (you’ve answered my prayers, YSL). This time, the fragrance smells of iced- coffee, cistrus and sugary pear. It gives you an instant shock but also makes you feel totally sophisticated. This is certainly on the podium of my top date night fragrances and I’ve already been getting compliments when I wear it to work. Also, who wouldn’t love that bottle? Black Opium Floral Shock makes me want to press all the heart emoji’s at once.’
