Perfume review: Michael Kors Wonderlust Sensual Essence

By Lauren Carbran

Put 14 August in your diary. Why? It’s the date that Michael Kors Wonderlust’s younger sister (and she’s REALLY cool) hits the scene. Yes, Wonderlust is making a comeback, but this time it’s a sensual, alluring smell that was made for summer nights, spontaneous adventurous and posh dos.

Imagine you’ve just met the love of your life. After staring into each other’s eyes for what seems like a lifetime, you hop on a jet plane and escape to an exotic island (sounds like something out of James Bond, just saying). Well, that’s the inspiration for Wonderlust Sensual Essence – the exciting smell of a new adventure (hot man walking out of the sea not included). It captures the passion and freshness of escaping – the feeling of exhilaration you get when you realise you’re thousands of miles away from that unpleasant train commute.

And now for the smell, which is an oriental and woody blend of fruit and florals. At first it’s black cherry, pink pepper, pear and peony (what a combo!), followed by the sweet, warm smells of orange blossom, jasmine and suede, characteristic of a winter fragrance, so I’m impressed already.

You can’t miss the beautiful dark pink ombré bottle, either – a major talking point in my life for the last week while I’ve been testing it. And the smell is as gorgeous as the bottle. What’s even better is that it’s perfect to wear as the weather cools down. I can so imagine wearing it every day (even into the winter period), so it’s not a one-hit wonder – I’ll tell you that.

Try it and see for yourself – it’s only £46 for 30ml, £66 for 50ml and £90 for 100ml. Not bad for your fave new scent, hey?
