1963
Marc Jacobs is born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. At the age of seven, his father dies, and Marc moves to Manhattan to live with his grandmother.
1978
Marc attends the High School of Art and Design in New York during the day and works in the stockroom of a fashion boutique in the evening. Here, he’s allowed to design their sweaters.
1984
He graduates from the Parsons School for Design and wins the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award and Design Student of the Year. He then goes on to design his first collection for a label called Sketchbook, which is inspired by the films Amadeus and Purple Rain.
1986
Marc Jacobs launches his own fashion line. His clothes are electric and luxurious.
1997
Marc Jacobs opens his first store in Soho, New York.
2007
Marc Jacobs Daisy is born. And we are so excited. The blend of violet with wild strawberries transports you far, far away…
2012
Dot by Marc Jacobs launches, a sweet, fruity fragrance with red berries and honeysuckle – perfect for taking on holiday.
2014
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream comes onto the scene and steals the limelight with its light and airy fragrance, which mixes coconut water, lychee and pear.
2015
Bang! Marc Jacobs Decadence arrives and steals the heart of every woman, with its notes of plum, rose and liquid amber, and dramatic bottle with a gold chain and black silk tassel. Lush! He also showcases his AW16 collection, which is truly gothic, with black lips, dark features and grey fur.
2016
Our prayers are answered! Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence arrives and we’re obsessed with the notes of champagne (yes, really!) and vanilla. Marc Jacobs SS17 is a collection of nostalgic technicolour clothes, seven-inch platform boots and rainbow dreadlocks.
