1961
Jimmy Choo is born in Penang, Malaysia. His family are shoemakers, and Jimmy’s father teaches him how to make shoes from a young age.
1972
At the age of 11, Jimmy makes his first pair of shoes.
1980
Choo travels to England to study at the Cordwainers Technical College in London’s Hackney, where he graduates with honours in 1983.
1986
He opens his first shop in Hackney, where he quickly becomes very popular. His shoes are featured in an eight page special in Vogue. Choo starts to make shoes for Vogue fashion shoots, commissioned by accessories editor Tamara Mellon. Soon, Tamara approaches Choo about partnering up to create a footwear collection.
1996
The Jimmy Choo brand launches, and the first store opens in London.
1997
Princess Diana wears Jimmy Choo shoes on the red carpet, which triggers the brand’s success story. Now everyone wants to wear Jimmy Choo!
2000
Jimmy Choo shoes ‘star’ in an episode of Sex And The City, when Carrie Bradshaw loses one of her high heels and says, ‘I lost my Choo!’
2003
The brand launches handbags. Jimmy Choo really is a girl’s best friend!
2011
Our prayers have been answered: the first Jimmy Choo fragrance launches. Jimmy Choo Eau de Parfum for her is a seductive blend of pear nectar, orange and toffee. Sweet-scent addicts, rejoice!
2014
There’s now a treat for the guys, too – Jimmy Choo Man arrives on the scent scene, and it smells divine. Who wouldn’t love the notes of honeydew melon, lavender and pink pepper?
2015
Illicit for her takes to the shelves, oozing ginger, honey and rose. It’s a delicious gourmand-floral perfume. We love.
2016
Jimmy Choo Exotic Limited Edition launches for summer and transports us straight to the beach, thanks to its notes of blackcurrant sorbet, raspberry and grapefruit. Private island, anyone?
Then Jimmy Choo Man Intense arrives – a daring, masculine take on the original, with added notes of tonka bean and geranium. Brazilian model Marlon Teixeira is the face of the campaign, casually giving us heart palpitations 24/7…
