Hugo Ferdinand Boss is born in Germany, the youngest of five children. When he is growing up, he does an apprenticeship as a merchant and works in a weaving mill.
1923
He founds Hugo Boss clothing company, which produces shirts, jackets, work clothing, raincoats and sportswear.
1948
Hugo Boss dies and his son-in-law, Eugen, takes over the business. The company starts making men’s suits.
1969
Eugen retires and leaves the company to his sons, Jochen and Uwe.
1977
Hugo Boss starts sponsoring Formula One drivers and the McLaren racing team.
1995
Hugo Boss Hugo Man for him launches. Inspired by a stroll in the woods, it smells of pine needles, sandalwood and green apple. Mmm!
1998
Oh, wow. Hugo Boss Boss Bottled for him comes onto the scene and smells of apple pie – seriously! The notes of apple, cinnamon and citrus fruits combine to create a warm, spicy smell…
2015
Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Intense is just what it says on the tin – a strong concentration of orange blossom, apple, cinnamon and vanilla. What could be better? Oh, did we mention Gerard Butler is the face of it? Yep, no comment needed…
This is followed by Hugo Boss The Scent for him, a seductive fragrance mixing ginger, lavender and black leather. It’s perfect for a date night – just pair with a smart shirt and black jeans and – voila – you’re good to go…

Hugo Boss The Scent For Her is here! And it’s our new signature scent, thanks to its notes of cocoa, honeyed peach and freesia. We are obsessed.
