Perfume news: Jasper Conran opens his first hotel in Marrakech

By Lauren Carbran

sunbathing-roof-terrace-1000x1109As if we couldn’t love Jasper Conran any more. Now, the British designer has opened the exclusive L’Hotel Marrakech, set in a 19th-century riad, with five suites, a courtyard garden and serene swimming pool. Someone hand us a one-way ticket…

Think terracotta terraces, views of the Atlas mountains and Moroccan lanterns. Is it heaven? We think so. But nothing will prepare you for happy hour, when you can enjoy cocktails on a sun lounger surrounded by orange blossom, fig trees and roses. Holiday goals much?

And as perfume addicts, we love the way Jasper Conran has created a fully scented experience. He’s planted banana, orange and lemon trees by the main fountain in the garden and jasmine and bougainvillea against the whitewashed walls. And when you head to the roof terrace, you’ll smell the olive trees, honeysuckle and geranium.

Want to smell just like Jasper Conran’s hotel? Well, we have just the scent for you. Yep, Jasper Conran created Woman in 2003, which conjures up the smells of Morocco, with its top notes of lemon, ginger and amber, combining the sweet and spice, just like the markets of Marrakech.

Woman wasn’t made to wear only in Marrakech, however. If a five-star riad is beyond your budget, we’ve got other ideas closer to home. This feminine, chic scent is perfect both for when you’re on the go during the day and for black-tie events at night. It suits the sophisticated woman who wears her signature scent every day and gets a buzz from regular compliments. We have one warning: one spritz and you may feel like a bit of a superstar…
