Calvin is born in The Bronx, New York. His father is originally from Hungary and his mum is Austrian-American.
1962
At 20 years old, after studying at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, he does an apprenticeship at a cloak-and-suit manufacturer and goes on to design for many other stores.
1968
Klein opens Calvin Klein Limited, a coat shop in New York.
1969
A Calvin Klein coat appears on the cover of Vogue magazine, worn by model Susan Schoenberg.
1971
He introduces sportswear, blazers and lingerie to his women’s collection.
1980
Calvin Klein men’s underwear launches. Enough said.
1986
Calvin Klein Obsession For Men hits the shelves, a potent and powerful mix of mandarin, nutmeg and sandalwood. How masculine!
1994
CK One for him and for her defines the start of unisex fragrances. From now on, both genders can enjoy smelling like green tea, bergamot and musk. Whoop whoop!
