SCENTS School: How to get perfume-ready for uni

By Lauren Carbran

Freshers, take note! You may have already started packing for university, but have you thought about the perfume you’re going to take with you? Well, our interns from the University of Bath are here to tell you how to prep for uni the perfume pro way…

samanthaSamantha Brailli

‘I’ve just finished my first year at university, and I can see why people say it’s the best time of your life… because it is! I’m a bit of a perfume hoarder, so I took quite a lot of perfume with me, including Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and Paco Rabanne Lady Million. But there’s nothing wrong with taking too many! Choose a go-to daytime perfume that is sweet and subtle, and a slightly heavier one for parties, to last all night. Aside from perfume, my top tips for your first week are to spend time getting to know your flat, explore your new surroundings and go to as many events as possible. Some of the people you meet could become your best friends and the people you choose to live with for the next couple of years.’

‘I started at uni last September. I’d suggest taking several perfumes with you to cater for different occasions. I usually wear Prada Candy when I go out, as I love the sweetness. For lectures, I recommend a light and fresh fragrance, such as Marc Jacobs Daisy. But most important of all, be confident, and go to lots of social activities and events to meet lots of new people.’
