London Fashion Week. The place for your year’s worth of fashion inspo. And there was so much of it at the Jasper Conran SS17 catwalk show that it got me daydreaming…
Think overdyed denim, floral dresses, silk stripes and graphic colours. It was all there at Jasper Conran.
My favourite piece was a striped toffee linen dress, with a canvas bag and bold white earrings. Not only was it SO me, but it was the epitome of Jasper Conran fashion – clean, classic and classy.
Where does his SS17 collection take me? Quite quickly to a resort in Marrakech, with terracotta buildings and turquoise pools. I’m lying in a hammock between two palm trees, listening to the birds singing…
In keeping with the holiday mode of SS17, Jasper Conran Woman is a breath of fresh air. You know that feeling when you can finally relax on holiday? This is it in a bottle.
It may contain ingredients that my mother swears by to cure flu, but Woman’s lime, lemon and ginger notes take you to the seashore. There are no exotic-meets-fruity notes here, but less is really more (a bit like Jasper Conran’s collections), and after a while, the ginger stands out. This perfume gets you salivating – not for a cocktail but for a lemon water.
It’s all quite fitting, as Marrakech is one of Jasper Conran’s favourite places to chill. And a little birdie told me he’s buying a new riad there very soon. I’ll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, I may or may not be flicking through the winter sun brochure, about to book a last-min retreat to Marrakech. Oh Jasper, what are you doing to me?
