Some perfumes were made for mums. And since March is the month when we celebrate Mother’s Day, here’s what you need to know about the classics that she used to wear and would probably love to receive this year…
Davidoff Cool Water Woman
Let’s take a walk on the fresh side. Your mum was almost certainly a massive fan of this classic scent, which is inspired by the turquoise seas of the South Pacific and smells of pineapple, melon, rose and honey. What could be better? Even though Cool Water Woman launched back in 1996, we suspect she’d love to receive it this Mother’s Day. You never know – it may bring back memories of her favourite adventures…
YSL Opium
Forget playing it safe – this Mother’s Day you should wow her with a classic that’s still totally cool. That’s right, Opium will never get old, thanks to its hints of vanilla, jasmine, orange and amber. It’s warm and sensual, so we’re pretty sure she used to wear it on nights out. A controversial scent at its time of launch (in 1977) because of its name, it’s a gift for a mum who never sticks to the rules.
Ralph Lauren Safari
Does she love the smells of fruit and flowers? Well, this is the one for your mum. We bet she loved Safari when it launched in 1990 for its classic top notes of blackcurrant and orange, heart notes of rose and honey, and base notes of vanilla and tonka bean. It gets better – not only can she wear it every day, but it’s perfect for her evenings out, too. Dreamy Mother’s Day present.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique
Can you get more classic than Classique? We think not. And we bet your mum was all for it when it launched back in 1993. Rose, orange blossom and vanilla? So gift her this for an unforgettable Mother’s Day – and be prepared for her to spritz it all the time.
