We visit the team at Southend

By Lauren Carbran

Today we visited our Southend store and caught up with the team to talk about why they love working for The Perfume Shop and their favourite fragrances!

Here’s what Store Manager, Jess had to say:

How long have you worked with The Perfume Shop?

5 and 1/2 years

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your role?

The extensive training that we receive about our fragrances and products – we really are store experts!

What has your career highlight been?

I recently won a trip to Marbella! I’m going in September and cannot wait!

How do you help a customer who is looking for a new fragrance?

I talk to them about their needs. Are they looking for a daytime or night time fragrance? I also ask what they’ve worn before and what have they loved in the past. I’ll then show them some that I think they would like!

3 things you love about working at The Perfume Shop

  • Working with so many great people – I love my team!
  • We have some amazing perks!
  • When we hit targets we’re always rewarded, it’s a great feeling when you know your hard work has paid off.

What is your all time favourite fragrance and why?

I have so many! But Dolce & Gabbana No. 3 L’Imperatrice is definitely up there as a fave – it reminds me of when I used to work on a cruise ship, it brings back so many memories!

Give us an interesting fact about perfume…

You shouldn’t rub your wrists together when you spray perfume! It crushes the fragrance and it won’t smell how it should!

Next we caught up with Diane who is Deputy Manager, here’s what she said:

How long have you worked with the perfume shop?

6 years

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your role?

Working with all the happy people and the other members of staff – we have a really great team!

What has your career highlight been?

Starting from sales assistant and working up to Deputy Manager

How do you help a customer who is looking for a new fragrance?

I introduce them to new products, spray them on the card and see if they like it. If they like it I’ll ask if they want to try it on their skin. If there’s a group of customers together we will talk them through products together and explain about the fragrances and their ingredients.

3 things you love about working at The Perfume Shop

  • The great benefits, rewarded for hard work through bonuses
  • Working with such happy people makes work really enjoyable
  • Meeting different types of customers each day, we have so many customers that have a great bubbly personality!

What is your all time favourite fragrance and why?

J’adore Dior. It’s not too overpowering, but when I have it on a lot of people ask what it is that I am wearing. Even when I’m at work customers will ask me!

Give us an interesting fact about perfume…

If you use the body lotion and then spray perfume on top it will last a lot longer!
