Spring/Summer 17 makeup trends and the perfumes to match

By Lauren Carbran

Move over snowy weather, it’s time to think about spring/summer (hallelujah)! On this season’s catwalks, we were spoilt for choice with oh-so-stunning makeup trends. And you know us – we wouldn’t dare give you the lowdown without a perfect scent to match…

11Trend #1: sun-kissed skin

Get your bronze on this summer because sun-kissed skin is totally in. Dewy skin was seen on the catwalk at Blumarine, giving models a shiny, contoured tint – even on the eyelids. Our fave fragrance match? Tom Ford Orchid Soleil, of course. Why? It’s inspired by the sun, with notes of bitter orange and chestnut cream. Oh, and the bottle looks suntanned too! Can we lie on a beach with it now, please?

22Trend #2: feline flick

Nothing says trendy like a feline flick this spring/summer. And we hate to break it to you, but cat’s-eye eyeliner flicks are so last year. Instead, look to the Elie Saab catwalk for some serious inspo, which saw models wear a kitten-like eyeliner flick – cuter and more fun! Which totally reminds us of Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy – maybe because Ariana LOVES cat’s ears, or perhaps the smells of fluffy marshmallows, cream and vanilla are just as cute as a cuddly kitten. Aw…

333Trend #3: aquamarine eyes

When are aquamarine eyes not in trend? Never. So as they’re not getting old anytime soon, we’re celebrating blue, watery colours big time this spring/summer. We’re planning on sporting the trend all summer long, just like the models on the Aigner SS17 catwalk. And the only perfume that reminds us of adventures at sea is Tommy Hilfiger The Girl – a sparkling combo of pear, fig leaves and jasmine. Just imagine spritzing it AND wearing aquamarine eyes. Blue emoji love hearts all around.

44Trend #4: coffee kohl

Do like the models on the Chloé catwalk and keep it simple with coffee-coloured kohl eyeliner. It’s inspired by the no-makeup makeup look, which is the easiest trend to follow for spring/summer 17. Yep, clean, glowing skin and neutral eye makeup are just so wearable that we challenge you not to wear it every day. And talking of coffee, we know you’ll love the new YSL Black Opium Floral Shock, which oozes iced coffee (yes, really!), orange blossom and vanilla. Life could not get any better.
