You haven’t worn fragrance until you’ve worn Paco Rabanne. Trust us – it’s one of a kind. And to celebrate our bud Paco, here’s everything you need to know about his journey to fashion and fragrance…

Paco Rabanne is born near San Sebastián in Spain. Christened Francisco, he is called Paco for short.

1964

After fleeing to France with his mother when the Spanish Civil War breaks out, Paco studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris where he graduates in architecture. He starts to design jewellery for Givenchy and other luxury brands.

1966

He starts his career as a fashion designer and creates 12 dresses called the Unwearables – one of which was his first plastic dress. He opens his own outlet at 32 and becomes well known for his contemporary materials, sun goggles and colourful jewellery. Two years later he is the costume designer on Barbarella.

1973

Paco Rabanne launches his first fragrance, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme – an aromatic mix of lavender, clove and oak moss.

1989

Paco constructs clothes out of paper, aluminium, cotton, knitted fur and ostrich feathers, breaking the boundaries of the fashion industry.

2007

Black XS for her launches. It’s an enchanting scent filled with black vanilla and cocoa flower – a beautiful gourmand, much-loved in the perfume world.

2008

Paco Rabanne 1 Million for him launches and the world goes crazy! That’s right – the notes of blood mandarin, peppermint and musk put every girl into a frenzy. And we’re its biggest fans.

2010

Hallelujah! Paco Rabanne Lady Million comes on the scene and steals the show. The smells of raspberry, honey and neroli have just the same effect as 1 Million. We heart.

And there’s more to celebrate, when Paco Rabanne Olympéa launches. It’s a fresh blend of salted vanilla and mandarin.

Paco Rabanne gives us just what we asked for! Invictus for him, an adrenaline shot of grapefruit zest and pepper AND new editions of 1 Million and Lady Million. Say hello to Paco Rabanne 1 Million Privé – an oriental blend of mandarin, cinnamon and tonka bean – and Paco Rabanne Lady Million Privé, a floral-meets-fruity blend of coconut, raspberry and orange blossom.
