5 Minutes with the perfumer behind Jimmy Choo L’Eau, Juliette Karagueuzoglou

By Lauren Carbran

Who’s excited about the new launch of Jimmy Choo L’Eau? We are! Especially as it has some of our fave ingredients, such as peony and nectarine. We spent five minutes with the perfumer, Juliette Karagueuzoglou, to find out more…

The idea for L’Eau was to create a fresh and joyful interpretation of the Jimmy Choo glamorous universe and give the feeling of a glowing, lively sensuality.

How is L’Eau different from the Jimmy Choo perfumes you’ve made before?

L’Eau is the first fragrance I have created for Jimmy Choo. It shares a common sensual signature and a statement vibe with the other Jimmy Choo fragrances, while being a fresher interpretation of this glamorous femininity. They were an inspiration, but L’Eau has really evolved from them. For example, L’Eau has kept a flower-fruit signature, but instead of the opulent orchid tiger pear accord created by perfumer Olivier Polge for the original Jimmy Choo EDP and EDT, L’Eau is built around a rosy peony and a summery light nectarine. A lighter interpretation of woman charm.

When you smell it, where does it take you?

It takes you to a sunny summer day, you’re lying next to a swimming pool, sunglasses on, sipping on a hibiscus and nectarine juice.

What is the hero note/smell?

I would say the union between the delicate rosy peony – very fresh and feminine – and the thirst-quenching nectarine.

When would you wear L’Eau?

At a summer cocktail party, to stay chic and fresh from day till night. In a nightclub, to glow with charm in the dark. Or in your bed, just for your own pleasure.

How is L’Eau in trend for 2017?

It is a harmonious fragrance. You have a kind of sensual tension created by the delicate floralcy of peony and the fruity notes of nectarine, and the vibrant woody notes of cedarwood and cashmeran. I think this balance between glam and light is a perfect blend for summer 2017.

What type of woman would wear this?

A classy, glamorous woman. She’s dressed to impress but would be as seductive without her stylish outfit. She’s confident, joyful, playful and charismatic. Jimmy Choo L’Eau would be her ultimate accessory: sexy from neck to toe.

Is this a great spring/summer scent?

The sparkling freshness of bergamot and the rosy floralcy of peony will make you feel beautiful and fresh in summer, while the sensuality of vibrant cedarwood and musks will give you the sex appeal you love.
