Today we visited our Chelmsford store in Essex and caught up with the team to talk about why they love working for The Perfume Shop and their favourite fragrances!
Here’s what Store Manager, Steph had to say:
How long have you worked with The Perfume Shop?
Since last October, so about 9 months
What would you say is the most rewarding part of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role would be motivating my team. It’s amazing when we hit our targets and knowing that all of our hard work has paid off!
What has your career highlight been?
So far it would be getting the role as Store Manager. I started as Deputy Manager and after 4 months of being here I got promoted to Store Manager.
How do you help a customer who is looking for a new fragrance?
I ask the customers what fragrances they have worn before, this usually gives me an idea of the type of scents that they like. I’ll ask if there is anything in particular that they’re looking for and from this I will select 3 or 4 fragrances to test see what they like the most!

How long have you worked with the perfume shop?

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your role?
Helping customers find their perfect fragrance, and knowing that they have left the store satisfied with their purchase!
What has your career highlight been?
Becoming Deputy Manager for the store. I started working here as a Christmas temp and have worked my way up from there.
How do you help a customer who is looking for a new fragrance?
I ask them what fragrances they’ve had before, what ingredients they like the smell of and if it’s for a particular occasion – this will usually give me a good idea of what to suggest.
3 things you love about working at The Perfume Shop
- I get to test all of the new fragrances before anyone else!
- Helping our customers and knowing that they leave with what they want.
- I’ve recently started the Fragrance Foundation course, which I’m finding really interesting, and at the end I will receive a certificate.
What is your all time favourite fragrance and why?
It’s got to be Viktor & Rolf BonBon! It’s sweet and fun. I love the bottle because it’s very girly – it’s my everyday fragrance and I’m always getting compliments. I feel lost without it!
