Major news: Chloë Moretz is yet again the face of the new Coach Eau de Toilette. So we sat down with her to talk all things New York and fragrance. What could possibly be better?
How is Coach Eau de Toilette different from the Eau de Parfum?
The Eau de Toilette is for this beautiful young woman, this soft young woman who wears florals and all these things, but at the same time it hits with the femininity that wraps them all together in a package that can be much more fluent. And you can use it in a lot of different ways. It depicts what Stuart Vevers, Executive Creative Director of Coach, brought to the brand – the fresh new outlook, that nouveau New York, and what Coach is. The Eau de Parfum has sweet musk, which gives you the sensuality. You kinda move in and go to deeper notes.
What’s your favourite thing to do in New York?
Go to Emmett’s for pizza and get the Peggy O or the Hot Puppy. The only reason I work out is so I can get a pizza. And maybe some mozzarella sticks and zesty ranch dressing on the side.
Where in New York would you wear this fragrance?
One of my favourite places in NYC is the Jacqueline Kennedy Reservoir in Central Park – so I’d wear it there.
What are your favourite smells in the fragrance?
I think what makes Coach fragrance so special is that it gives you this light kind of airy, sweet essence of what the scent really depicts.
What clothes would you wear on a day out in New York while wearing the fragrance?
I buy a lot of workout clothing, and I’m obsessed with Outdoor Voices leggings. They’re great because I’m short, with a short waist but a long leg.
Would you wear this fragrance every day as your signature scent?
Yes! Coach Eau de Toilette is really clean. It’s not fruity and doesn’t overload your senses with femininity, and you can wear it at night with a sexy outfit and also during the day. It’s flirty and fun, and it feels like spring. It’s fresh, it feels new, it feels progressive.
What do you love most about the Coach brand?
I’ve been a part of the Coach family for several years, and it has truly felt like an extended family to me. Stuart is one of the coolest designers out there, and he has transformed the brand into something young and fun, while still keeping the classics, so previous Coach fans will feel comfortable as well. I’m blown away when I see that my mom still has some Coach bags that she carried before I was born. Now that is iconic!
When you first smelt the fragrance, what was your reaction?
I loved it! It’s feminine but still unexpected. The floral notes are not overpowering or stuffy, and it feels sophisticated in a cool way. I’ve been wearing it every day. It just gets more interesting.
Which beauty look do you love for this summer?
I try to keep it natural. When I signed up for the Coach ads, we were all on the same page. We wanted hair and makeup to look like they do in real life. I try to break barriers. I try not to post Instagrams where I edit my face and wear a ton of makeup. I want to be as natural as can be. And I want to break it down for young women so they understand that you’re not just born like this.
